...moregas detection system
Operating principle Fire gas system describes the use of inert gases and chemical agents to extinguish a fire. Gas systems would normally be initiated by an electrical fire system. These are commonly heat or smoke detection systems to initiate early detect and rapid release of the gas agents to extinguish the fire. The selection of the gas agent used will be dependent on the application, the level of risk and life safety factors. The various gases used are all environmentally safe. Open Path Applications Offshore Oil & Gas drilling and production Petrochemical and Chemical storage and production areas Storage & loading of hazardous materials and waste areas Engine & Turbine air intake and modules LNG-LPG storage, pumping and filling Fence-line emission monitoring Storage Tank Farm protection Paint industries, including paint-booths Bus terminals (natural gas powered) Waste disposal and processing The SafEye 700S Optical Open Path (Line-of-Sight) Gas Detection System employs “spectral fingerprint” analysis of the atmosphere using the Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (DOAS) technique in a unique (patented) method.SafEye 700S consists of an advanced Xenon Flash infrared transmitter (source) and infrared detector (receiver), separated over a line of sight from 13 ft. (4 m) up to 460 ft. (140 m) to detect and quantify flammable gas presence, even when challenged by extremely harsh environments where dust, fog, rain, snow or vibration can cause a high reduction of signal. The SafEye 700S analyzes atmospheric absorption at three selected spectral bands, two in a region where the target gas absorbs and one where it does not absorb. The ratio between these absorption lines can provide accurate information of the gas concentration along an optical path. The reference sensor detects beam blockage, compensates for changing humidity and detects failed light source or dirty optics. SafEye’s source and detector units are both housed in low profile, rugged, stainless steel, ATEX approved enclosures. The main enclosure is approved EExd flameproof with an integral, segregated, EExe increased safety terminal section. The hand-held communication unit can be connected in-situ via the intrinsically safe approved (EExia) data port on the detector. The combined ATEX approval is therefore Ex II 2(1) GD, EExde ia [ia] IIC T5 (55˚C).SafEye 700S includes heated optics on the transmitter (source) and receiver (detector) to address icing, condensation and snow. Modern accessories include an Intrinsically Safe approved, Hand-Held Unit which is an all-inone Diagnostic / Calibration / Interrogation plug-in unit that assists one-person installation and maintenance.
...moreFire Hydrant and Sprinkler System
The fire hydrant system is the backbone of the fire fighting system in a building or premises. The system is a water distribution system consisting of water tank, suction piping, fire pumps and a distributed piping system. The distributed piping system establishes connectivity throughout the building through fire hydrants, hoses and nozzles. The purpose of the fire hydrant system is to provide a readily available source of water to any point throughout the building. This helps in controlling fire during an emergency. Through the fire main system, the fire-fighter is provided with a reliable and versatile system capable of providing a number of different methods for controlling the fire, water can be supplied through the fire hydrant system as a straight stream for combating deep seated fires and as a spray for combating combustible liquid fires. Sprinkler System A fire sprinkler system is the most effective fire prevention system since it extinguishers fire before it gets too big. A fire can create havoc in a few minutes. This can be avoided by installing the fire sprinkler system. The fire sprinkler system is activated when heat in the room rises to a threshold-level. A fire sprinkler system douses the fire by sprinkling water on it, effectively smothering it before it spreads further. Most people who die as a result of fire don’t actually burn to death. Predominantly, they die of suffocation from smoke inhalation. Fire sprinkler system is the only fire protection device that cuts through the smoke, weighting down larger smoke particles before they have a chance to rise. This lessens smoke thickness, making it easier to breathe.Fire sprinkler systems are connected with water pipes on ceiling and walls. The network of water pipes is either filled with water at all times, or hooked up to the water main or a storage tank via a water pump or valve. The sprinkles themselves are installed on ceilings or sometimes high on the walls. Each sprinkler in the fire sprinkler system is fitted with a glass bulb containing gases and liquids that expand under heat, or a fusible link with seals that melt when they contact with high heat. When fire starts, it sends a plume of hot air toward the ceiling. This expands the contents of the glass bulb. When the gases get hot, the glass bulb breaks. In the case of the fusible link, the heat melts the seals on the links. This releases a valve connected to the water pipes in the ceiling, dousing the fire with water. The glass bulbs and link seals are often designed to break at a specific temperature usually around 68°C.The droplets released by the fire sprinkler system ate strictly controlled to be large enough to penetrate the core of the fire without evaporating. They bring the temperature inside the fire below sustainable levels. As a result, the fire goes out quickly before it spreads to different areas of the premises.

FM – 200 has established it self as one of the most popular clean fire suppression agents. This is due to its ability to quickly knock down Class A,B and C fires with no risk of thermal shock damage to delicate equipment. FM – 200 is electrically non – conductive and non-corrosive; it leaves no residue.Another major consideration is the fact that, if discharged, the FM -200 gas does not itself pose any threat to human life, FM 200 exists as a gas in the earth’s atmosphere and is one of the by – products of combustion. It’s use has no environmental impact. Application Data processing facilities. Telecommunication networks. Process control rooms. High value medical facilities. High value industrial equipment areas. Libraries, museums and art galleries. Flammable liquid storage area. Fire detection Conventional / Microprocessor bases automatic fire detection systems. Intelligent analogue addressable fire detection systems. Distributed intelligence addressable fire detection systems. Laser based high sensitivity smoke detection system. Liner heat sensing cable systems. Clean agent Fm – 200 not only prevents extensive fire damage but also virtually eliminates collateral damage to delicate equipment and instruments from the extinguishant itself : FM-200® is a clean agent containing no particulars or oily residues. FM-200® does not significantly reduce oxygen levels and is safe for occupied spaces where your most important assets, human resource reside. After FM-200® is discharged it can be removed from the protected space by simple ventilation allowing you to resume normal operations quickly.
...moreconventional system
A conventional non – addressable system usually included a fire alarm control panel (FACP). FACP receives information from device throughout the property, which is designed to detect associated with a fire event, including water flow or detection of smoke. A map of the building is often placed at a strategic location with the defined zoned and indicators that illuminate when a zone is in an alarm condition. The main drawback is that the activated device can not be detected, and only zone can be identified. The fire may be in only one small area, but the emergency indicators only reveal that the larger zone is in alarm. This type of system is also capable of dialing on offsite monitoring service, shutting down gas supply, turning on smoke exhaust fans, and connecting to other fire alarm panels.
...moreAddressable System
An addressable system is much more advanced than the non-addressable system. The addressable system has a higher degree of programming flexibility and single – point detection. Addressable fire alarm systems provide all the functions provided by the non-addressable conventional systems. The addressable system allows installation of more devices, providing greater coverage. There is no restriction on the amount of programming features to be implemented in the system. Some of the more common programming features include fire door release, door access control override to assist in evacuation, time delay activation, phased evacuation for multi – level buildings, signaling to all other types of fire equipment such as sprinkler systems, monitoring station alert, and smoke damper shutdown, etc. The wiring diagram of an addressable fire alarm system is displayed in the following figure. Addressable fire alarm systems offer benefits in speed of detection, identification of the location of the fire and easier maintenance. The location of the fire alarm is automatically isolated in the building control panel, which enhances the response time of the system. Addressable building fire alarm systems also incorporate intelligent field devices that are more sensitive and accurate than most device in place today. For example, intelligent smoke detectors can distinguish between smoke and common causes of false alarms, such as dust. Therefore, false alarms have been reduced by more than 50 percent with the use of intelligent addressable systems. Addressable fire alarm system allow a single pair of wires to be used to connect up to 200 devices, which provides cost savings in the wiring of large systems.Fire suppression and detection systems in today’s building are innovative and highly effective only if they are periodically inspected, tested and maintained. Those who own, manage , or are accountable for the building have joint responsibility. They can fulfill this responsibility by working closely with experts, including local fire departments, insurance risk control consultant, and engineers to make sure they are ready if and when a fire breaks out.
