Filter presses are extensively used to separate solids from liquids in a wide range of applications.   The liquid solid mixture is pumped into the filter press, which is made up of a number of recessed filter plates forming chambers. The plates are supported in a fabricated steel frame and is held closed by a force exerted from a hydraulic ram mounted in the frame work at the end of the machine.   Each filter plate is covered by a filter cloth that retains the solid particles, but allowing the liquid to pass through and exit through the ports in the filter plate.   The particles retained gradually build up on the surface of the filter media and after a period of time eventually form a solid cake.   As the cake forms the pressure within the filter press the pressure rises as the filtrate has to pass through the already partially formed cake to exit the chamber. It becomes increasingly more difficult to continue pumping as the press is unable to accept more solids. At this point the feed pump is stroking infrequently and the filtrate flow from the filter press has considerably reduced or completely stopped.   At this point or at a pre determined filtration time or pressure being achieved the cycle is terminated and the fully formed filter cake is discharged.

The unfiltered liquid is fed into the filter under positive pressure, where liquid travels in downwards direction and finds its way through opening on sides of the Filter Plates. As the liquid pressure increases, the Filter media holds the foreign particles and allows only clear filtrate to pass through the central channel formed by interlocking pressure cups to the outlet. Filtration is continued until the cake holding capacity of the unit is reached or until the filtrate rate becomes too slow owing to cake resistance. Horizontal Plate Filter Press is enclosed construction, preventing evaporation, oxidation, leakage and fumes escaping from product.Filter plates are available in two sizes. Deep plate for large percentage of cake holding capacity and Shallow plate for small percentage of cake holding capacity.The horizontal filter plate and even thickness of cake, prevents the cake dropping as well as cracking, thus assuring better filtrate quality.The Filtration area and cake holding capacity can be increased or decreased according to requirement.

Operation: This system consists of a closed circuit manufacturing facility from feeding of Sugar / Water Phase to loading the Volumetric Liquid Filling Machine to prepare Sugar solution. With vacuum system or mechanical system or manually the Sugar and Water, are loaded. The Sugar Syrup Vessel is supplied with high speed stirrer. Electrical heating (In small model) Steam heating facility (In bigger size model) . The sugar   syrup is prepared at required temperature & is transferred to Manufacturing Vessel by vacuum or by transfer pump. The product during emulsion formation is re-circulated through In-Line Homogenizer / Liquid Transfer Pump. The Pump also discharges the product in the Storage Vessel. The Storage Vessel is then taken to the filling area ( if it is small capacity ) and is connected to again Liquid Transfer Pump. Or Storage Vessel remain fixed ( In bigger size ) & pump transfer the Liquids in the float tank which is connected with filling machine. The entire Plant can be operated by centralized operating panel by one operator The plant is equipped with an electrical control panel with digital   temperature indicators / controllers and digital timers.
