Warm medicated oil is retained in herbal paste boundary on the chest is called urovasti. Urovasti is an effective treatment for respiratory problems, heart disease and muscular chest pains. Before the treatment, body is softly massaged with warm oil. Then specially prepared warm herbal oil is poured on the chest area and kept inside an herbal paste boundary made of black gram dough. It enhances blood circulation and builds strong muscle and connective tissues.

Shirovasti is a very special bathing treatment for the head. In this treatment a long cap open at the top is fitted around the patients head. Some precious lukewarm herbal oils are poured into the cap for 30 to 45 minutes per day, for a period 5 to 7 days.

Pizhichil is a treatment which comprises a combination of heat treatment and oil massage. The therapy has been used since ancient times as kings used to take this treatment. Hence, the treatment is also called �treatment for aristocrats�. It is a gentle and synchronized body massage, which is done with constant flow of warm herbal oil.

Kizhi treatment is a therapy wherein heated herbs and medicinal oils are tied in cloth bags and placed on the area to be treated. This is followed by specific massages, done using the fingers, heel of the hand or palm. The pressure application varies according to the nature of ailment and the spot. This treatment is for osteoarthritis, arthritis with swelling, spondilosis, sports injuries etc. Specially selected herbal leaves or powders are compressed into small linen bags and then dipped in hot, medicated oil and applied to the body or afflicted area. The ingredients seep through the bag and penetrate deep into the body to result in an intensive, heating and therapeutic treatment.
