The copper acts primarily to protect the wood against decay fungi and bacteria, while the arsenic is the main insecticidal component of Copper Chrome Arsenic, CCA.

Copper Chrome Boron (CCB) water-borne wood preservatives, typically based on a mixture of Copper, Chrome and boron is used for wood preservative. Boron is usually applied as salt and in the diffusion process. Wood Preservative - CCB provide good protection against soft rot fungi, even in hard woods.
