Machine room-less elevators are designed so that most of the components fit within the shaft containing the elevator car; and a small cabinet houses the elevator controller. The machine is located within the shaft itself without requiring additional space. The internal shaft dimensions, the pit, and the headroom are identical to conventional standard elevator specification.
