Hot Thermic oil is used as heating media. Air is heated by hot Thermic oil. Due to high temperature of oil, heat transfer area required is less than steam heater. Hence cost of Thermic oil air heater is less than that of steam heater for same, heat load. Higher air temp. Can be obtained in these heaters where as to obtaiv higher air temp. In steam heaters it requires high steam pressure.

Shell is made of M.S. or S.S. & tubes are copper, S.S. depending on heating & cooling media.

These finned tubes are used where air is corrosive or having more moisture. This gives longer life of Finns. After making complete finned tubes it is cleaned to remove oil, rust & any other impurities & then dipped into molten bath of zinc. This process is costly.
