The pan evaporimeter consists of a cylinderical reservoir offixed diameter and depth, filled with water to a fewcentimeters below the rim. Afixed point gauge in a stilling wallserves to indicate the level of water in the pan. A calibratedmeasuring cylinder is used to add or remove water at eachobservation to bring the water level to the fixed point. Thereservoir is covered with wire mesh netting to protect the panfrom birds and animals. A thermometer suspended from amount clamped to the side of the reservoir records thetemperature of the water in the pan. Pan is made of G.!.Sheet.
