SIS-1315 Laboratory fume hoods are one of the most important components used to protect laboratory personal from exposure to hazardous chemicals and agents used in the laboratory. When used properly, they exhaust toxic, offensive or flammable materials when the containment of an experiment or procedure fails and vapors or dust escape from the apparatus being used. Cabinet is made of Thick Ply Board / M.S Duly Powder Coated / Stainless Steel (304). Interiors coated with Asbestos / Lead sheets and further coated with fire proof epoxy paint. Vicat Softening Point Apparatus - Vicat softening temperature of plastics is the temperature at which a standard flat-ended indenter penetrates one millimeter into the surface of the material under test under a specified load. The test is conducted by placing a test specimen taken from the sample under test on a flat platform inside a liquid bath and applying compression load over its upper face through a flat-ended indenter. The load is applied by placing a dead weight on the upper end of the indenter. After the test specimen attains the temperature of the bath, the bath temperature is increased gradually till the indenter penetrates by exactly 1 mm into the test specimen. The bath temperature in ºC at which this happens is reported as the Vicat Softening Temperature of the sample under test. The Vicat Softening Point Apparatus (High Temperature Model) consists of a specimen support, weights, a deflection measuring device, and an immersion bath. The specimen support consists of a circular supporting plate on which the specimen is kept and a loading plate having a bush for guiding a vertical rod carrying a hardened indenting tip. The two plates are joined together with spacer rods of same material (brass) as indenting rod so that they have identical co-efficient of linear expansion.

Friability Test Apparatus Used to determine the durability and abrasivness of tablets. A transparent perpex drum (made of imported perspex sheet 6.4mm thick ) 300mm dia x 35mm deep and white cover disc and nut, also a shaped radial fixed blade which carries the tablets along with it up to the central height and lets them off while the drum is rotating. Thus the tablets rub against each other without any hard impact. The drum rotates at a fixed speed of 30 RPM by a geared motor and the rotation period is controlled by a timer (imported time switch duration of 1 to 15 minutes) per determined end preset. The motor unit is housed in a shaped steel cabinet with shaft extended on one side upon which the drum rotates. Switches with neon indicators and time switch are fitted on a panel and provided work on 220 Volts 50 Cs AC. Digital models also available.
