The replicas are used to visually evaluate the appearance of fabrics after induced wrinkling. The replicas represent grades of 1 to 5 with 5 being the smoothest and 1 being the most wrinkled in appearance.

Water hardness has traditionally been defined as the capacity of water to precipitate soap. The ionic species in the water causing the precipitation was later found to be primarily calcium and magnesium. Thermo Strips are basically paper strips with temperature indications. These are very useful for measuring exact temperature during pasting fusible interlining in the garments.
