Torsion Springs and Wire Forms
Torsion Springs Helical springs used to apply torque or store rotational energy are commonly referred to as torsion or double torsion. Torque by definition is a force that produces rotation. A torsion spring exerts a force (torque) in a circular arc and the arms rotate about the central axis. The stress is in bending and not in torsion. It is customary to specify torque with deflection or with the arms at a definite position. Formulas for torque are in pound-inches or inches-pounds. If ounce-inches are specified the value should be divided by 16 to use the formulas in the inch-pound system When a force is specified at a distance from a centerline or the torque, the distance multiplies and is called momentum, which is equal to the force. Force can be in pounds or ounces with the distance in inches or the force can be in meters with the distance in millimeters. Formulae for torque are based on the tangent to the arc of rotation with a rod to support the spring. The stress in bending caused by the moment is identical in magnitude to the torque, provided that a rod is used.s Torsion and double torsion, whose ends are rotated in angular deflection, offer resistance to externally applied torque. The wire itself is subjected to bending stresses rather than torsional stresses, as might be expected from the name. Torsion springs of this type are usually closely wound, reduced in coil diameter and increase in body length as they are deflected. The designer must consider the effects of friction and arm deflection on the torque. Special types of torsion springs include a double torsion spring having a space between the coils to minimize friction. Double torsion springs consist of one right-hand and one left-hand coil section connected together and working in parallels. The sections are designed separately with the total torque exerted being the sum of the two, thus called a double torsion. Tension springs are stressed in shear but are “pulled” rather than “pushed”, in order to effect energy transfer. By virtue of this they have different end forms to anchor them and to effect the actuation of the energy stored. The form of the ends is varied and virtually infinite in shape to suit the user and the application. However there are a number of standard or commonly used shapes. Tension springs are usually close coiled. They have a nominally linear rate, when close coiled they are coiled with “initial tension Bangalore Spring Industries manufacture a wide range of round wire tension springs and have developed a number of special end forms for the convenience and efficiency as per the customers' requirements and keep a large selection of springs in stock. ...morePressed Components-Disc springs
Disc springs are conical shaped washers, designed to be loaded in the axial direction F only. They can be statically loaded, either continuously, intermittently or cyclically deflected i.e. dynamically loaded. Infinitely variable spring characteristics can be achieved by the arrangement of disc springs into stacked columns. A disc spring (also called as "Belleville washer" after the inventor) consists primarily of a convex disc supported at the outer periphery by one force and an opposing force on the center of the disc. Disc springs are used singly, or in stacks, to achieve a desired load and travel. The advantage of a disc spring is that it generates high force in a very short spring length and with minimal movement when compressed. All disc springs are subject to exact manufacturing and quality control standards. All discs are preset so that they do not significantly relax under load. Disc springs achieve economy in design and reduce the cost of overall assemblies by the maximum utilisation of space. Developments such as the internal combustion of engine, turbine and jet systems, cnc machineries, nuclear power, oil and gas exploration, etc. have progressively advanced this simple spring device to the sophisticated energy storage system that it is today.

Heavy Duty Compression Springs
Heavy duty metal compression spring is manufactured using round wire and designed to be used as a Die Spring or heavy duty coil spring in heavy stress, heavy load applications. Heavy duty compression springs are usually hot-coiled which allows use of thicker wire. Heating the material makes it more flexible and custom hot-coiled coil springs are usually preset which means they are wound to a length greater than the finished length, heat treated, then compressed solid one or more times to bring them to the specified length. The ends of a Heavy Duty Springs are closed and ground, providing adequate large bearing surface.

...moreDie Springs
Die springs are mainly used in die machinery. However, they are also well-suited for many applications where high-static or shock-load stresses are required or when maximum cycle-life is important. Rectangular wire is used to reduce the solid height and increase the space efficiency of the design. Introduction to springs A spring is electric members which store energy and provides a force over a distance by elastic compression. Spring have ability to withstand relatively large compression elastically. Today springs find tremendous applications in engineering and other areas, which makes wide variety of springs both in size and shapes. Springs are mainly used for following functions. To cushion, absorb or control the energy either due to shocks, vibration as in railway wagons, automobiles, shock absorbs, press tools etc. To exert force as in spring loaded safety value, clutches etc. To support moving masses or to isolate vibrations. To store energy as in clocks, toys, machines etc. Springs are classified as: Compression springs Tension springs Spiral Springs Disc Springs Spring Rings and Bars In this catalogue we are mainly provided details of compression springs used for following applications Press toll dies for sheet metal working Moulds for plastic injection modeling. Jigs, Fixtures and machines tool. The springs which are commonly us in such applications mention above are made of rectangular Wire. This spring are known as Die Springs. The advantage of Die Springs over round wire spring is it can give higher compression as compare to the round wire spring & also generate higher force at same compression resulting into higher life of spring in operation. It is always recommended to use spring at its long life compression & shall never be used above average life compression. This catalogue covers Die Springs as per ISO1024 & JIS12B Standard. The color of the spring identifies its Compression & Load Characteristics. The spring covered in the catalogue are Stock items. Die Spring CATALOGUES as per ISO and JIS Standards : Click below ISO1024 (Click Here) JIS12B (Click Here) Guide line - spring selection and operating condition Select the spring carefully at the design stage. For long stroke - select light load or medium load spring. For more load - select heavy load or extra heavy load springs. Calculate spring stroke (required compression) Pre loading compression should be equal to 5% of the length. Use guide pin, a locating board as a guide - this is essential for springs having a free length / diameter ration exceeding 3.5. If possible use longer springs for lower loads. Never compress springs beyond the average life load and compression. Always check spring holder heights and working strokes of moving elements after die tools has been reground. Protect springs from corrosive agents. Do not exceed a working temperature of 2500 C. No significant load reduction occurs up to 1200 C, beyond this temperature an average loss of 1% for every 400 C must be calculated. Do not one spring at a time, if they are multiple in use. Do not alter physical characteristics of springs like cutting of coils, grinding of internal or external diameter.

Helical compression springs are used to resist applied compression forces or to store energy in a push mode. Compression springs have the most common configuration and are most commonly used in engineering, tools, automotives, aerospace and consumer applications. Most compression springs are straight cylindrical springs made out of round wire. Compression Spring Types: Compression springs from a manufacturer come in a variety of types including: Conical, Barrel, Hourglass and Cylindrical shapes. Wire Selection: round, square or special-section, round being the most adaptable. Compression Spring Mandatory Specification: the functional design characteristics. Compression Spring Secondary Specification: which is useful for reference and been considered as advisory data. Dimensional Limits: governed by the pitch allotted with regard to allowable solid height and outer and inner diameters. Stress Level: determined by the dimensional limits together with the load and deflection requirements. Our compression springs are stress-relieved to remove residual bending stresses produced by the coiling operation. Compression Spring Stress Levels A compression spring can be compressed into solid without a permanent set, so that an extra operation for removing the set is not needed. These springs are designed with torsional stress levels when compressed into solid that do not exceed above 40 percent of the minimum tensile strength of the material. A compression spring can be compressed into solid without further permanent set after the set is initially removed. These may be pre-set by the spring manufacturer as an added operation, or they may be pre-set later by the user prior to or during the assembly operation. These are springs designed with torsional stress levels when compressed to solid that do not exceed 60 percent of the minimum tensile strength of the material. Springs, which cannot be compressed into solid without some further permanent set-taking place is because set cannot be completely removed in advance. These springs involve torsional stress levels, which exceed 60 percent of the minimum tensile strength of the material. The spring manufacturer usually advise the user of the maximum allowable spring deflection without set whenever springs are specified in this category. Remember: It is extremely important to consider carefully the space allotted to insure that the compression spring would function properly to begin with, thereby avoiding expensive design changes
