Coagulation and Flocculation by controlled Turbulence The PFR pipe Flocculator is a plug flow reactor in which process such as coagulation, flocculation, demulsification, precipitation and pH control can take place under highly controlled and well defined conditions. The above mentioned processes take place under turbulent flow conditions. At the chemical injection points the pipe diameter is adapted to ensure instantaneous mixing of chemicals and wastewater. Through the crosssection of a pipe the mixing intensity is virtually homogeneous. Reaction time is determined by the pipe length and flow rate and based on the exact requirements, no excess is required . In the plug flow reactor the process can be influenced at any time as opposed to tank reactors, where only condition per tank can be maintained. Generally speaking a pipe flocculator is used where a coagulant, a flatulent and optionally a chemical for pH correction are dosed in sequence for the remove all of turbidity and / or COD or precipitants. The use of a pipe flocculator in combination with a flotation system can give COD removals of up to 95%. The design features of the solids contact type clarifier provide the three zones necessary for proper clarification: Rapid mix zone, where raw water, recirculated precipitates and fresh reagents are rapidly mixed together. The FP4 is particularly suitable for carrying out on-site Jar Tests.     FC4S / FC6S - FLOCCULATORS     The FC4S and FC6S are highly resistant to chemical and mechanical aggression and corrosion. The highly versatile stainless steel stirring shafts offer height adjustment and are fitted with a self-locking device with clutch. The sample can be backlit for easier reading. Motion is transmitted by four (in the case of the FC4S) or six (in the case of the FC6S) direct current gear motors in order to ensure optimum performance and reproducibility even at low speeds. With 9 different speed settings for each position the instrument is totally flexible; the stirring speed can be set using the selectors on the front panel (10-15-30-45-60-90-120-150-200 rpm). On demand version can reach 300 rpm.

A lamella clarifier (also lamella separator, lamella thickener) is used to separate sedimentable solid (sedimentation particles) from liquids.
