SLRM is operating a 262 m3 (working volume) Blast furnace since 2012. Sinter , calibrated lump ore, limestone, dolomite, quartzite and coke are charged into the MBF from top and hot air is passed from the bottom. Ascending oxygen in the air reacts with the carbon in the coke to form CO which reduces the descending iron oxide to iron. Hot metal at required temperature is collected in the hearth at the bottom of the furnace and is tapped periodically and transferred to steel melting shop (EOF). The annual production capacity is about 2,76,000 tones.

Light weight model with ceramic insulation grooved type outer body made of thick mild steel sheet. Inside chamber is made of silluminate grooved refractory for supporting the heating elments on four sides. Heating elements are made of imported kanthal wire and easily replaceable. Two working temperature of 960 & 1000 can be provided as per requirment.complete with digital temerature controller cum indicator.indicator, thermocouple, copper thermal fuse are also provided.
