HCA is a naturally occurring compound, hence it is safe to use. In addition to this it does not act upon the Central Nervous System. This means that it is not a stimulant and does not interfere with normal sleep cycles.

The extract is derived from the dried fruit of the Garcinia Cambogia tree which is found in the forests of South India and South East Asia. The main active ingredient is (-) Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA).

This was done in technical collaboration with Bertrand Freres located in the south of France. It was also owned by Unilever. Marketing was also done by Unilever and Indfrag's ingredients found their way in famous perfumes like Poison of Christion Dior and 24 Faubourg of Hermes. In the early 1990s, Indfrag diversified and expanded into other botanical extracts used in Health care. The first product was Garcinia which is even today a very important ingredient for weight management.

Manufacturing facilities have grown and now have a capacity which is in excess of 5000 MTs of raw material per annum or 1250 MTs of finished product with an emphasis in the production of Garcinia Cambogia, Green Coffee, Valerian, Natural Caffeine, Coleus Forskohlii, Banaba, Mucuna, Boswellia, Centella Asiatica (for Cosmetics), Gymnema Sylvestre and a host of other botanical extracts. Indfrag is headquartered in India with two manufacturing plants.
