Thermic fluid is subjected to high temperatures throughout its operating life. Owing to frequent overheating, it breaks into low boiling and high boiling components. While adequate venting or de-aeration will get rid of Low boiling compounds, high boiling compounds circulate in fluid as carbon sludge. These highly heat resistant carbon solids make the fluid viscous. All Fluid Dynamics CPF Systems, both Model 100 and 200 series, operate using parallel filter circuits that permit continuous, uninterrupted process filtration. In operation, one filter housing/element assembly is on-stream until a predetermined differential pressure is reached(Fig. 1). Then, by operating the two handwheels, the spool valves are repositioned, in proper sequence, to progressively close off flow to the housing containing the “dirty” filter elements, and divert flow to the off-stream housing containing the clean filter elements (Fig. 2). Vent valves are incorporated to purge the air during the filling of the off-stream housing to maintain balanced system pressure and prevent entrainment of air in the process stream. Upon completion of the changeover sequence (Fig. 3), the “dirty” housing/element assembly is removed and replaced with a clean assembly.

Paper Filter (Paper Band Filter) can filter contaminant by filter media. Filter media moves automatically when the contaminants accumulates and clog filter media. Clean filter media is replaced and the soiled filter media is moved to a sludge box. Filter both ferrous and non-ferrous contaminants. Filtration accurancy depends on filter media, choosing from 50, 30, or 15 micron. Paper Filter is not suitable for heavy duty because it will consume to much filter media. In order to reduce consumption of filter media, use magnetic separator as a previous filtration process.

Here a non woven ( paper ) fabric band is used as the filter media for the separation of the chips from the coolant oil that is made to fall over it. The filter paper is stored as a roll on the unit and is pulled out by an endless chain belt on top of which the paper rests, after use of the front portion. This filter is extensively used on grinding honing machines for filtering cast iron aluminium fine steel particles from coolant, where coolant filtration is critical. Filtration levels of 5 to 40 microns are possible. There is no cleaning of filter needed except change of filter paper roll after a long roll of paper ends. When the paper roll ends, an optional “paper end” signal can be provided to fix a new roll.
