Walk-in hoods are available in standard lengths of 4ft to 8ft. However, they can also be built to suit custom sizes, depending on the lab space requirements. Their exterior panels are phosphate coated with a baked chemical resistant and synthetic resin finish; and are constructed with heavy gauge, cold rolled steel. They are available in vertical and horizontal sash types, radiused corner posts and air foils for smooth air movement, thereby, assuring high levels of comfort, safety and efficiency Walk-in hoods are used where a taller apparatus is required or when equipment is rolled into the hood. Stainless steel tops and working surfaces are made of Type 304 stainless steel, unless specified otherwise. All exposed surfaces are 16 gauge stainless steel reinforced on the underside by 16 gauge carbon steel channels. They are spaced in such a way that twisting, oil-canning or buckling are prevented. Exposed edges of tops are formed into a 1" thick channel shape, and suitable wood inserts are provided on all four edges of the underside of the top to facilitate anchoring to the base units. Splash rails and curbs are formed from the same sheet as the top or are welded to form integral parts thereof. The top edges of curbs and splash-backs are formed into a channel shape. Unless otherwise shown or called for, all tops having built-in sinks, have a raised rim 1" wide, on all edges. Where stainless steel sinks are supplied, the sink bowl is welded to the top so as to form an integral part thereof. All welds are ground smooth and polished to a uniform satin finish over the entire top and sink assembly. Soldering of the sinks, curbs or splash rails to the top will not be permitted. Mechanical joints or field joints are a tight butt joint of the top surfaces; reinforced and held in alignment with the steel reinforcements. After fabrication and polishing, surfaces of the tops are given a strippable plastic coating to protect the tops during shipment and installation. Epoxy Resin tops consists of modified Epoxy Resin that has been specially compounded and cured to provide optimum physical and chemical resistance properties required of a heavy-duty laboratory table top. They are of a uniform mixture throughout and with full thickness. Therefore, unlike a surface coating, the top cannot be easily removed or damaged by chemical and/or physical abuse. The tops and curbs are designed to be non-glaring. Tops are made to be 1" thick, with exposed edges beveled top and bottom, and have drip grooves provided on the underside of all the exposed edges. 4" high curbs at the back and ends of the tops are 1" thick and bonded to the deck to form a square watertight joint. The sink cutouts are smooth and uniform without saw marks with the top edge beveled. The bottom edge of the sink opening has a smooth finish with the edge broken to prevent sharpness.
