A milling machine is a machine tool used to machine solid materials. Milling machines can perform a vast number of operations, some very complex, such as slot and keyway cutting, planning, drilling, die sinking, rebating, routing, etc. Cutting fluid is often pumped to the cutting site to cool and lubricate the cut, and to sluice away the resulting sward

Material handling equipment is all equipment that relates to the movement, storage, control and protection of materials, goods and products throughout the process of manufacturing, distribution, consumption and disposal. Material handling equipment is the mechanical equipment involved in the complete system. Material handling equipment is generally separated into four main categories: storage and handling equipment, engineered systems, industrial trucks, and bulk material handling.    

A lathe is a machine tool which spins a block of material to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, or deformation with tools that are applied to the work piece to create an object which has symmetry about an axis of rotation.   Lathes are used in woodturning, metalworking, metal spinning, and glass working. Lathes can be used to shape pottery, the best-known design being the potter's wheel. Most suitably equipped metalworking lathes can also be used to produce most solids of revolution, plane surfaces and screw threads or helices.

A grinding machine is a machine tool used for grinding, which is a type of machining using an abrasive wheel as the cutting tool. Each grain of abrasive on the wheel's surface cuts a small chip from the work piece via shear deformation.

A drill or drill motor is a tool fitted with a rotating cutting tool, usually a drill bit, used for drilling holes in various materials. The cutting tool is gripped by a chuck at one end of the drill and rotated while pressed against the target material. The tip of the cutting tool does the work of cutting into the target material. This may be slicing off thin shavings, grinding off small particles, crushing and removing pieces of the work piece, countersinking, counter boring, or other operations.   Drills are commonly used in woodworking, metalworking, and construction and most "do it yourself" projects. Specially designed drills are also used in medicine, space missions and other applications.

Boring mill machine tool used to increase the size of a hole previously made in a work piece, usually with the purpose of obtaining a required degree of finish and accuracy in the final hole. In a horizontal boring mill the work piece is held stationary on a vertical table whose position can be adjusted. A spindle attached to a vertically adjustable head holds the cutting tool, which is fed horizontally into the work. In a vertical boring mill the work piece is made to revolve on a horizontal circular table as the tool is fed in.
