Thermocole EPS pipe sections are manufactured of EPS blocks to go with any size of nominal bore of any pipe. These are available in 1 m length and the inside section from 25 mm to 325 mm and outer thickness from 25 mm to 100 mm. These are supplied in the density of 15 kg/M3 to 22 kg/M3. EPS pipe sections are used to safeguard MS pipes from outer atmosphere to avoid exposure to retain the required temperature within the pipe. MS pipes are used to circulate chilled water, very low temperature chemicals and warm fluids etc in air-conditioned multistoried complex, IT buildings and many other industries.Various properties of Thermocol produced by the company : It contains 3-6 million discreet cells per liter giving it excellent insulating properties. EPS (Expandable Polystyrene)is a petroleum byproduct and is a polymerised version of Styrene monomer. After Polymerisation, a blowing agent called pentene is added to make it expandable. EPS comes in various bead sizes and is spherical and almost transparent with approx density of 750-760 kgm3. EPS is available in two grades, namely (a) Normal Grade (b) Self Extinguishing Grade(Fine Retardant Grade). It’s flash point is 70°c to 80°c and is expanded with the help of steam. After Expansion the air gets trapped in cells in between the expanded bead and it’s density gets reduced to 16-40 kgm3(as required). The air gets trapped in the cells and hence it can not circulate. Due to these properties EPS becomes perfect cold insulating material and packaging material.

It is important that the Icepacks gets sufficient “breathing” space around it for proper conditioning. In other words Gel Icepacks needs to kept in perforated crates or shelves with air gaps between each stack of Icepacks in the deep freezer which allows faster heat exchange between the freezer and Icepacks. If the Icepacks are loaded in the crate without air gaps the Icepack may not be fully conditioned (even though for human touch & feel the Icepacks looks Frozen physically) in the deep freezer even after 48 hours or more time in the freezer. The Icepacks should never be conditioned (frozen) in the original end packing corrugated box as corrugated boxes are poor conductor of heat. The Icepacks should neatly stacked FLAT one above the other with sufficient air gaps in between each stack of Icepacks. The Icepacks should never be thrown into the deep freezer in a disorderly manner as the same can get frozen with deformed shape.
