Wollastonite is chemically a Calcium Meta Silicate (CaSiO3), it is a naturally occurring white & acicular (needle shaped) mineral, with mohs hardness of 4.5. In addition to Wollastonite's unique morphology, it is alkaline, inert, has low loss on ignition, low water solubility, low co-efficient of linear thermal expansion and a melting point of 15400c. It also improves tear strength, dielectric properties and retains mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.

Calcined clay is produced when raw kaolin or more popularly known as Clay or China Clay is fired enough to reduce its crystalline water content via a process known as Calcination. The calcination process increases whiteness and hardness of the Clay, improves its electrical properties, and alters the size and shape of the kaolin particles. Calcination makes the powder whiter and more chemical inert. Calcined Kaolin is used as a functional extender in paint. Calcined kaolin has proven to be an excellent extender for titanium dioxide (white) pigment in paint.

Ball clay and China clay differ only in the degree of plasticity. China clay is less plastic than ball clay. Ball clay is a highly plastic variety of kaolin having high binding power, tensile strength and shrinkage. Ball clays or plastic clays are fine grained, highly plastic sedimentary clays, which fire to a light or near white colour. They are used mainly in the manufacture of ceramic white ware and are valued for their key properties of plasticity, unfired strength and their light fired colour. Ball clays exhibit highly variable compositions and consist of a mixture, primarily of kaolinite, mica and quartz, with each contributing different properties to the clay.
