As mentioned earlier, PCOS or PCOD means having more of the male hormones than is necessary. But how does that happen?
This can be caused if you are a victim of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). This is a cluster of genetic conditions which put a limitation on the amount of hormones that can be produced in the adrenal glands. CAH is a rare case and although it can be treated, there is no way of permanently curing it yet.
The other plausible cause is by the intake of birth control pills. However, it is important to note that not all birth control pills can get you diagnosed with PCOS. Although, there are only a couple that can do that. Hence, you need to be careful when deciding on which pills to take.
