Induction hardening takes place by keeping the object inside an applicator coil of copper tube with one or more turns through which alternative current will be passed. Water will be circulated through the tube to avoid overheating. While the object will be rotating with in the coil, the quenching media(water or polymer) will be operated through another quenching coil for instant quenching to achieve the maximum efficiency. Hardening of steels and cast iron components may be done for obtaining certain properties including, but not limited to, strength, fatigue, and wear resistance. High-carbon steel and cast iron work-pieces also use induction heating surface hardening Induction heating is widely used for the surface hardening of the gears, shafts, crankshafts, cams, rollers, etc. of the work-piece.
