    Product description : KOLLAGEN®-D is a porous collagen dressing with a nylon mesh backing. The collagen layer is lyophilised, Type I intact collagen of fish origin. The collagen layer is resorbable on the wound bed. Collagen :  Collagen is an extra cellular matrix protein playing a major role in connective tissue. It is the most abundant protein in humans and performs multiple functions. In fish, the largest concentration of collagen is found in the skeleton, fins, skin and air bladder. Collagen as a biomaterial and its role in wound management is a well-documented subject. Collagen encourages wound healing through the deposition and organization of freshly formed fibers and granulation tissues in the wound bed and thus creating a very conducive environment for wound healing.Salient Features : Intact Type I collagen layer facilitates healing and is haemostatic Provides immediate pain relief Collagen act as a matrix for Tissue Regeneration KOLLAGEN®-D is made from Fish collagen and hence no allergic reaction has been reported Biocompatible as per EN ISO 10993 Standards Non-toxic, non-allergenic, non-immunogenic, non-pyrogenic Indications : Partial thickness burns Skin donor sites Surface wounds Pressure ulcers Venous stasis ulcers Diabetic ulcers Acute wounds for example, traumatic and surgical wounds Moderately draining wounds Contraindications : Do not apply KOLLAGEN®-D on infected wounds and wounds with heavy exudation In case of infection, control with systemic antibiotics and resume the application In case of irritation, remove and discontinue KOLLAGEN®-D Do not apply on patients hypersensitive to collagen Application Methodology :  Apply KOLLAGEN®-D to cover wound surface Dry or minimally draining wounds: KOLLAGEN®-D may be hydrated with sterile normal saline before application KOLLAGEN®-D may be applied dry to moderately draining wounds Apply the porous collagen surface to the wound bed; the nylon layer faces away from the wound Topical medication may be applied to the wound bed before applying KOLLAGEN®-D if needed Apply a soft absorbent secondary dressing of choice Nylon mesh can be removed on application or can remain in place until healing is completed Once healing has taken place, the nylon mesh can be removed easily Always maintain moist wound environment
