These gates are very similar to the conventional sliding gates, except that these gates do not need the ground track for the gates to move on. The advantage of a Cantilever Gate is smooth, quiet operation, vehicle does not experience any bumps and gate is not prone to getting blocked by leaves or dust hence reduced maintenance. Cantilever Sliding Gates are approx. 1/3 longer than a tracked sliding system. This added length acts as a counterbalance so that the gate is free to slide back and forth, thus supported throughout the entire opening and closing width by the roller wheels contained within the bottom track rail.

Sliding gates usually have a single door, which runs on a track with a ratchet. They require a long and narrow space for the gate to slide along during the opening and closing phases. This type of gate is the ideal protection for wide entrances, entrances placed uphill or wherever the space inside the property is not sufficient to enable the opening of swing gates.
