Expanded metal is free from link & joints. This is one of the strongest mesh work. It is an extremely useful material having a remarkably high quality of strength and toughness as it has no artificial joints but just one continuous piece of material which makes ittensile and dependable. Manufactured from 0.40mm (1/64") to 3" opening (SWM), from 0.30mm sheet to Bmm thick sheet in the width of 1 feet to 2.5meters wide. A major advantage of expanded metal is that the mesh is formed from a single piece of material like mild steel, stainless steel or any other metal sheet which is cut and stretched while still leaving it attached at the knuckle. Expanded Metal is formed in an expanding press. The basic metal is simultaneously slit and cold-formed, which expands the slits into diamond shaped openings of uniform size and regularity. Expanded metal is a form of metal stock made by shearing a metal plate in a press, so that the metal stretches, leaving diamond-shaped voids surrounded by interlinked bars of the metal. The most common method of manufacture is to simultaneously slit and stretch the material with one motion. Expanded Metal may be produced from carbon steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and a variety of copper.
