Universal Ball Lock Chucks
We are offering universal ball lock chucks. Power operated gmt universal ball lock chucks (ublc) are designed to clamp components and ensure face butting. Power operated ball lock chucks have certain distinctive advantages over wedge and lever type chucks. Jaw movement is achieved by sliding and swivel of the base jaws, which are amply proportioned. this results in less wear, less bearing pressure and less stress concentration in the jaws when compared to same sizes of wedge or lever type chucks. Apart from the radial clamping forces, these ball lock chucks provide an axial force to pull the component against the butting face. This is achieved as the jaw movement is along an arc. GMT started manufacturing lapping & polishing machine in 1971. It was built for in-house use and until then hand lapping process was used for finishing surface plates. Critical parts for our workholding devices required a finishing and buffing machine. There was demand in the market for valve lapping and lapping plates. Since GMT had a captive ferrous foundry, castings for lap plate and lapping machine were easier to source. Since then GMT has become one of India's largest lapping machine manufacturers and suppliers with over 350 installations throughout India mainly to the valve and pump industry. When a buyer in Japan wanted a super finishing machine for lapping large granite plates, GMT designed and supplied a 3000mm dia flat lapping machine. The following features of the GMT four jaw chuck makes this chuck superior to other four jaw independent chucks available.The chuck body is made of forged medium carbon steel. It is hardened and tempered to ensure long life and strength to the chuck body. Base jaw slots in the body are precision ground to close tolerances for obtaining a good sliding fit, ensuring a play free functioning, high load carrying capacity and maximum wear resistance.GMT system of independent four jaw chucks has separate jaws and reversible hard jaws. This gives the flexibility to use special hard jaws to suit specific component. The hard jaws are fixed to the base jaws by tongue and tenon, so that they can grip a wide range of components, either on their OD or ID.Base jaws are made of alloy steel and case-hardened. Itis made deeper and wider for providing large bearing areas with reduced unit bearing pressure, thereby increasing the life of the chuck. Square threads cut on the screws and on the underside of the base jaws have longer mesh with each other, which results in efficient transmission and conversion of applied torque. Screws are heat treated to prevent breakage, a common complaint in the commercial quality chucks.

We will inspect and study the chuck and give you the report and costs. Standard products will usually be reconditioned within 7 working days after Order Acceptance. After order acceptance, the parts will be cleaned, rebuilt, thoroughly tested and individually set to factory specs – restoring them to GMT factory standards!
