CrossingGard® is an Emergency Response Grille designed to help address both security and safety issues in public areas. CrossingGard provides the security of a locked, rolling grille — but immediately responds in an emergency situation to fully open automatically and allow safe escape. Our exclusive CrossingGard e-gress grille is always on duty to provide separation control, yet still allows access to an alternate means of escape.

Crank operation is primarily used in counter shutter applications where there is a wide counter space between the shutter and the user. You often see crank operation in lunchrooms or pharmacy counters. In that case, a rigid crank operation is ideal, since it can reach across the gap and open the shutter. Again, power is not required for this operation method, and it is best suited to infrequent daily cycles.

Counter shutters are installed in places where, unfortunately, fires are likely to occur. In fact, they are required by code for fire, fire barrier and smoke barrier walls. Think of lunch rooms, concession stands, and the like. In these situations, you want counter doors that can compartmentalize the fire as well as prevent fire and smoke spread as quickly and effectively as possible.
