Metal Jacketed Gaskets consist of a metallic outer shell with either metallic or non-metallic compressed fiber filler. The filler material gives the gasket resilience, while the metal jacket protects the filler and resists pressures, temperatures, and corrosion. Special used in sealing spots of heat exchanger, pressure vessel etc. This gaskets highly resistance against blow-out suitable for high assembly stress.

Double-jacketed gaskets are probably the most commonly used style of gaskets in heat exchanger applications. They are available in virtually any material that is commercially available in 26-gauge sheet. They are also extensively used in standard flanges where the service is not critical. Since most double-jacketed gaskets are custom made, there is virtually no limit to size, shape or configuration in which these gaskets can be made. In some cases nubbins are provided on heat exchanger designs to provide an intermediate seal. This nubbin is normally 1/64" high by 1/8" wide. Experience has indicated, however, that there is little advantage to this particular design. The primary seal is still dependent on the inner lap of the gasket doing the brute work and the secondary seal, when applicable, would be provided by the outer lap.

Metal jacketed gaskets specially designed as Heat Exchanger Gaskets are widely used on smooth flange applications. They are ideal for Heat Exchangers, Auto claves, columns, flue stacks, boilers, gas mains, valve bonnets, pumps and similar services. Camprofile gaskets used as Heat Exchanger Gaskets consists of a metal core with concentric grooves on either side with sealing materials. The Sealing layers (depending on the service duty) can be Graphite, PTFE (Teflon), CAF or Metal (e.g. Aluminium or Silver). Camprofiles can be used without sealing layers to provide an excellent seal but there is a risk of flange surface damage
