Description : CNSL is a by-product of Cashew Nut Industry. � It is a pericarp fluid and is extracted as oil from cashew nut shell. � CNSL is a natural product with no chemicals. � CNSL occurs in the nut, mainly around 90% as anacardic acid and around 10% as cardol. Application : � CNSL is potential raw material for systhenis of water-resistant resins and polymers. � Primarily used as raw material for CNSL liquid resin, PF resin and Cashew Friction Dust (FD) for Automobile Break linings. � CNSL is also used for manufacture of paint and varnishes, Epoxy resins and oil soluble resins, Surface active agent, synthetic Rubber and wax compounding, Foundry resins etc. Advantages of use of CNSL : � CNSL is natural Cheaper Phenol. � Readily can be used for polymerization as chemical modification. � Has more impact resistance, flexibility, faster heat dissipation etc than phenolics. � Easily soluble in organic solvents. � Good electrical resistance. � Better water repellence. � Better characteristics for friction resistance. � Has better cold wear resistance. � Resistance to alkali and acid. � Antimicrobial nature. � Compatibility with other polymers.
