The company is presently operating a 100 MW captive power plant using Waste Heat Recovery Boilers and Fluidized Bed Boilers. By using the boilers based on using low quality fuel and waste gases, company is committed towards harnessing energy by using waste resources and other innovative and creative ideas.Continuing its endeavors in the segment, the company is expanding its power generation capacities from existing 100 MW to 725 MW. The proposed power plant will enable the company to secure its own long-term power needs while the surplus power will be sold to potential customers through open access.

Aluminium is a power intensive industry. The electrolysis process used to produce Aluminium requires large quantities of electrical power, cost of which is almost one-third of the total cost involved in production of Aluminium. The Direct Current (DC) required depends on the total number of cells or pots installed and the potline current involved. For meeting this huge power requirement most Aluminium smelters are equipped with their own Captive Power Plants.
