Laser Guided Auger Boring
Laser Guided Auger Boring is a ideal technique for the bored installation of a M.S.Pipeline into the ground. The excavation technique employed is that of using a rotating auger chain/ flight fitted with a cutter head. The cutter head is driven by, and is positioned at the lead end of, an auger string that has been established within the M.S. pipe, the auger diameter being dimensioned to just below the full diameter of the pipe to allow rotation. Rotating the helical auger chain within the pipe allows the cutter head to excavate the ground at the face, with spoil being removed back along the auger string within the casing pipe to the launch pit. Spoil is removed mechanically as it exist the pipe. This system has the steering capability applied to the cutter head or to the pipe to counter minor deviations as they occur. This is a guided technique to maintain line and level. Laser Guided Instrument is used to control / check the line and grade of pipe installed. This is dry method of installation. In this no water or slurry is used which further helps In maintaining Soil Stability. The Horizontal pipe Installation by Laser Guided Auger Boring is adopted to install pipeline which has to conform to rigid line and level criteria below Busy Road. Here conventional method of pipe installation like trenching is not feasible due to importance of the service line or economical reason. This method is safe, simple, faster, cheaper and the horizontal bore is sufficiently accurate. The biggest advantage of using this technology is that no disruption or interruption of the service line is required while the pipe being installed below the service line.
...moreHorizontal Directional Drilling
Horizontal Directional Drilling is a method to install pipelines below a surface without disturbing the obstacle (road / railway / river etc.) causing no settlements to the ground. The HDD work is carried out from the dry surface well away from the embankment of the obstacle. The pipeline to be installed is welded in a straight line on one side of the obstacle. The HDD equipment is positioned on the opposite side of the obstacle. Using a proprietary drilling method, drill pipe is advanced along a pre-determined arc. The drill pipe is steered along this course below ground until it reaches the predetermined exit surface location near the product pipe string. The borehole is enlarged and conditioned. The product pipe is then pulled through the borehole. With HDD one can easily maintain line and grade as per the requirements. HDD technique is mostly used to install the steel and M.S. pipelines below rail, road crossings, highways and other areas where cut and cover method is impractical. It is the most appropriate method of installing ducts through which high-tension power cables, fibre optic cables and telecommunication cables can be pulled. HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLING has the following main advantages to work at job sites are as under: - No Settlements during construction. Total Directional Controlled. Time for mobilisation is minimum. Greater Reliability.
