Anotest® ymp30-s sealing quality tester for anodic coatings on aluminum:- the weather resistance of a finish is a function of sealing quality. According to din en iso 12373-5 and astm b 457-67, the admittance (y) of a capacitor in which the anodic oxide film forms the dielectric is a good yard-stick of sealing quality. Measurement procedure:- a self-adhesive rubber ring is placed on the surface to be tested and the space so enclosed filled with a few drops of a test fluid. The aluminum substrate is then connected to the earthing socket of the unit and the test electrode dipped into the cell fluid, thereby forming a capacitor in which the anodic film acts as the dielectric.
