Nitriding Steel
EN40B is a chromium molybdenum steel usually supplied in the hardened and tempered ‘T’ condition, which offers high wear resistance together with good toughness and ductility. EN40B in T condition has a tensile of 850-1000 Nmm². It is characterised by its suitability for nitriding, which can give a hard wear resistant case in the range of 61-65Rc. The relatively low temperature of the nitriding process produces EN40B components with a scale free surface, with minimum distortion during the heat treatment process. EN40B may be used in its supply condition (usually ‘T’) for applications and components which require a high tensile steel strength and high creep strength at temperatures up to 600°C.EN40B is suited for applications that require excellent resistance to wear and abrasion combined with high fatigue strength. Typical applications include shafts, extruders, gear wheels, drills, guides, pins, spindles and bolts. Widely used in the automotive, textile and general engineering industries.

D2 tool steel is extremely sensitive to overheating during hardening – do not overheat.Pre heat slowly to 750780°C and soak. Continue heating to the final hardening temperature of 10001030°C and allow the component to equalise. Quench in oil or cool in air.Heat uniformly and thoroughly to the desired temperature and hold for 25 minutes per cm of thickness. D2 can be double tempering at approximately 15°C below the first tempering, after intermediate cooling to room temperature.

H-21 is 9% Tungsten hot work tool steel. H-211.2581 Work tool Steel was developed to extend the life of aluminum die cast moulds. Used for hot-working dies and tooling such as die casting, extrusion and hot forming of parts. This alloy is one of the Hot Work, tungsten containing tool steels. The tungsten content is beneficial for hot strength at red heat, although toughness is somewhat reduced. Applications : Tools for metal tubes & rods, extrusion. Presses, rams, forging dies etc. Sizes Available : Rounds. Dia and Length are as per clients request.
