Penetration is a measure of consistency to determine the plasticity of substances. It is measured by the distance a standard cone or needle will penetrate the surface by a free fall of a standard temperature. Penetration Apparatus is used in production for controlling the consistency of solid, Plastic, Semi-Solid & Viscous materials. Petroleum & Petro-Chemical, Plastics, food, paper, confectionery, cosmetics, Rubber & many other Industries have application for Penetrometer Apparatus. It is used for penetration test on a wide variety of materials such as grease, petroleum, bitumen, tar, wax, polish, food stuff, rubber, asphalts and pharmaceutical creams.This apparatus consists of a head support mounted on a vertical rod which can be adjusted for height. A rack & pinion & pointer assembly provides fine adjustment of cone or needle tip to sample & incorporates a slipping clutch mechanism which makes reading of Penetration & subsequent resetting a simple & accurate operation. The dial is graduated from 0-400 in one tenth millimeter subdivision. The Instrument is supplied with weights & sample containers.

We manufacture and supply a wide range of California Bearing Value (CBR) Apparatus, which is useful in determining the relative bearing ratio and expansion characteristics under known surcharge weights of base, sub-base and sub grade soils for the design of roads, pavements, & runways. The CBR test is used extensively in selection of materials and control of subgrades.

Friability Test Apparatus : (1370) Used to determine the durability and abrasivness of tablets. A transparent perpex drum (made of imported perspex sheet 6.4 mm thick) 300mm dia x 35mm deep and white cover disc and nut, also a shaped radial fixed blade which carries the tablets along with it up to the central height and lets them off while the drum is rotating. Thus the tablets rub against each other without any hard impact. The drum rotates at a fixed speed of 30 RPM by a geared motor and the rotation period is controlled by a timer (imported time switch duration 1 to 15 minutes) per determined end preset. The motor unit is housed in a shaped steel cabinet with shaft extended on one side upon which the drum rotates. Switches with neon indicators and time switch are fitted on a panel and provided work on 220 volts 50C/s AC . Digital models also available.

In flexible pavement construction, bitumen binders are used. It is important that bituminous material forms ductile thin film around the aggregates, Which serves as a binder. The binder material not of sufficient ductility renderspervious pavement surface and leads to development of cracks. Therefore it is important to carry out the ductility tests on bituminous material. Ductility is defined as distance in cms to which a standard briquette of bitumen can be stretched before the thread breaks. The briquette is stretched at a rate of 50mm/minute ±25mm per minute at a temperature of 27ºC ± 0.5ºC.The apparatus consists of a water bath with a thermostatic heater, and a circulating pump to maintain uniform water temperature. One half of the briquette moulds is fixed on a fixed plate in the water bath, the other half of the briquette mould is fixed to a carrier which slides over a rotating threaded shaft with a clutch. The motor and gears to rotate the shaft are housed in a cabinet fixed above the other end of the bath. A pointer fixed to the carrier moves over a scale graduated from 0-110 cm x 1mm fixed on the bath with “0” (zero) of the scale towards the fixed plate side. The rotating shaft has 2 speeds of travel for the bracket, 5cm/min and 1 cm/min., selected by a clutch. Water bath inside is aluminium, it is an insulated water bath. Water bath is provided with a drain. A heater with thermostatic control is fixed inside the water bath. Control switches for motor, stirrer, heater and indicator lamps are fixed at a convenient place on the water bath, complete with three briquette moulds and one base plate, all made of brass. Operates on 230 volts A.C. single phase.Accessories : 1. Thermometer IP 38 C, range 23ºC to 27ºC. 2. Ductility mould with base-plate.
