Sturdy construction with hand rotating device in vertical plane. In this experiment, work is converted into heat caused by the friction between two well fitting gun metal cones. The inner cone is fitted with a known quantity of water & thermometer is held stationary (while the wheel is in motion) with the help of counter torque applied to the bigger round wooden disc by cord & slotted weights. A counter is fitted for recording the number of revolutions. A slot is provided in the metallic frame to adjust the belt.
