The amount of bio-culture for the above application was one gram for every Kg. of waste and also the waste being highly heterogeneous the mixing had to be very intimate. Composting is Aerobic System which requires oxygen and limited quantity of moisture for getting good final compost. It works on the principle of Mechanical Fluidization of the products being handled. Because of mechanical fluidization, there is increase in specific area and hence close contact between the ingredients being handled, leading to faster reaction. The organic waste is to be mixed with a bio culture in the ratio of 1000:1 (Waste to Culture). The waste being very heterogeneous and the quantity of culture being very small, Composter is the best suited equipment. Further the output from the composter is uniform and flow able, allowing free entry of oxygen into the mass, which is necessary for quicker composting.
