A Japa mala or mala is a set of beads commonly used by Hindus and Buddhists to chant mantras or repeating names of deities. This process of chanting mantras or deities name is called as japa. Malas are made mostly of 108 beads. The practice of chanting a mantra is used as a form of meditation.
