The joint is made simply by pushing the spigot end into the socket end, without the use of any Solvent Cement. Champion lubricant should be used for easy insertion. The ring forms a leak proof joint and absorbs the linear expansion and contraction, keeping the seal intact. The base of the fitting socket needs a rubber ring to seal it, since an angled cut may result in leakage. 3. Deburring & Chamfering : All the burr must be removed from the inside and outside of the pipe with a knife, file or de-burring tool. A 10° – 15° chamfer must be made at the end of the pipe. 4. Cleaning : The surface dirt, grease or moisture must be removed with a clean dry cloth. 5. Check Dry Fit : Using light pressure, the pipe should be inserted one third to half the way into the socket. Note that pipes and fittings that are too tight or too loose should not be used. 6. Solvent Cement Application : An even layer of cement should be applied to the outer side of the pipe and a medium layer of the plumbing solvent cement to the inside of a fitting. 7. Assembly : Push the pipe in integrated ring socket end. Additional information THERMAL EXPANSION SWR pipes and fittings are not concealed and are always exposed to external surfaces and sunlight. The diurnal temperature varies at many places between 5°C to 20°C, which naturally leads to expansion & contraction of pipes. This thermal expansion is required to be taken into consideration in the design of a sanitation system. The expansion & contraction occurs more in vertical lines. Therefore SWR pipes with integrated rings are most suitable for a vertical stack. It is necessary to maintain an expansion gap at rubber ring joints to allow movement of pipe due to thermal expansion. Please measure the socket length by a measuring tape and mark along the pipe. During installation, push the pipe firmly into the socket fitted with an integrated ring till the gap between the mark on the spigot and socket is about 10mm, to allow for thermal expansion. Champion recommends selfit jointing for all horizontal wastewater lines. Selfit fittings makes the system cost effective, without affecting the performance. Horizontal pipes require closer support compared to vertical pipes. Pipe brackets/pipe clips must be used to anchor expansion joints.

This special design makes them ideal for domestic wells, industrial wells, public and mining wells. These pipes are also anti-corrosive, which prevents chemicals in the soil from affecting them. Champion casing and ribbed screen pipes are better than conventional metal pipes as they are lightweight, corrosion free and long lasting. These pipes do not alter the water quality and are recyclable. Casing pipes are easy to install as the threaded ends ensure that the pipes can be interlocked without the use of cements or adhesives. Bore mechanics should take care while installation: • Hydraulic pressure difference created by inside water and outside while drilling mud. • Hydraulic pressure and heat created during bentonite/cement grouting. • Stress formation due to types of rocks, clay and shale present outside the pipe. • Development of sudden internal vacuum inside the pipe. • Lateral compression and brittle failure after external impact of the hard bedrock. Additional information CASING PIPE INSTALLATION GUIDELINES • Drill the bore of the required size and depth in the ground. Care should be taken that it is vertical, without any bends. • To obtain better results, ensure that the reamed borehole is at least 15 to 25 cm more than the outside diameter of the casing pipe. • In bore wells with loose boulders, casing pipes are recommended for the entire depth. • Use slotted pipes manufactured by Champion. We do not recommend slotting to be done by any other company. • Don’t use vertical slotted pipes in a bore well as they may not have enough strength and are not recommended by IS 12818 standard. • Check to ensure that pipe threads are not damaged. Clean it with normal water to avoid forceful jointing. Don’t use any chemicals for cleaning pipe threads. • Ensure that rubber gaskets are properly placed in the groove on the male threads of the pipe. • Use plain water or soapy water for thread cleaning. • Do not apply grease, oil or any other lubricant on the threads. • Use an end cap at the end of the bottom pipe during installation. • Join one pipe after the other. Tighten pipes using a strap wrench so that 50% of rubber-sealing ring on male thread end gets into the seat of coupler female threads. • Do not over tighten as it may result in crushing of rubber seals leading to leakage and cracks in the pipe. • Do not use a pipe/chain wrench to tighten the joints. • Don’t hammer the pipes during assembly. Do not apply excessive vertical pressure on the pipes during installation. • Don’t dump gravel at a very high rate to avoid excess abrasion. Do not use clay as packing material outside the pipe, where the bore well shows presence of water at the time of digging. • Cleaning of bore well with clean water is recommended immediately after the pipe installation. • Flushing of bore well within 24 hrs. after drilling and backfilling of casing pipes must be done to avoid developing strong cohesive forces around the pipes. In this case, the pressure required for bore well cleaning is quite high which may lead the pipe to burst. • Take extra care at the time of bore well flushing. Use a rubber coated metal pipe joined at the end of the compressor air hose. Keep compressor air pressure below 12 bars. Generation of excess pressure inside the bore well may lead to pipe breakage.
