It fixes nitrogen in the roots of many non-leguminous crops like cereals, millets, forage crops and vegetables, etc. Besides fixing nitrogen,it also produces growth promoting substances/hormones such as indole acetic acid, gibberellins, pantothenic acid, thiamine and niacin required for vegetativegrowth of the plants.
