The Reverse Air Bag House is a modular type dust collector in which each module act as a device which accepts the dust-laden gases, filters it, collects the dust and discharges the clean air. The dirty air enters the side of the hopper so that, due to the low velocity, much of the entrained dust (particularly the large size of the dust particles) will drop directly into the hopper. Continuing upward, the air encounters the tube sheet where it passes through the collars and in to the filter bags. The dust in the air does not penetrate the bags and remains as a deposit on their inside surfaces. The air itself, however, does pass through the bag material, then continues upward and out through the top of the compartment from there it is directed through an exhaust manifold.

Pulse jet bag filter is one type of Baghouse dust collectors using large array of filter bags for air filtering and high velocity pulsed air passed in reverse direction to airflow onto bags for cleaning. The other two types of baghouse dust collectors are shaker type bag filters and reverse air baghouse dustcollectors (not so commonly used). Of all the three types of baghouse dustcollectors, pulse jet is the most effective and economical type because of high air to cloth ratio, smaller size in comparison to other two of same capacity, continuous duty because of online cleaning advantages. For medium to heavy duty applications we highly recommend pulsejet dustcollectors. For smaller dust collection requirements & Intermittent duty, mechanical motorized or lever operated shaker type bag filter can be used. In pneumatic conveying systems handling fine or dusty material, the method of filtration that has become almost universally adopted is a bag type fabric filter. These filters are commonly called baghouses. Most baghouses use long, cylindrical bags (or tubes) made of woven or felted fabric as a filter medium.During cleaning, dust that has accumulated on the bags is removed from the fabric surface and deposited in the hopper for subsequent disposal. Depending on the typeconstruction of baghouse, cleaning can be carried out while the baghouse is on-line (filtering) or is off-line (in isolation).Standard fabric filters can be used in pressure or vacuum service, but only within the range of about ± 640 millimeters of water column (25 inches of water column). Well-designed and operated baghouses have been shown to be capable of reducing overall particulate emissions to less than 0.05 gm3 (0.020 grft3 ), and in a number of cases, to as low as 0.002 to 0.011 gm3 (0.001 to 0.005 grft3).

In an offline pulse jet baghouse, the construction and working is similar as the online baghouse. The offline Pulse jet Baghouse consists of a number of modules/chambers. Each module is isolated from gas stream by closing its outlet poppet damper in predetermined sequence. In an isolated module, each of filter bag rows is cleaned sequentially by compressed air pulses. The mass of air also draws air behind it, adding to the downward airflow. The dust removed falls into the hoppers and is discharged through discharge valve. A master controller - which can be PLC (Programmable logic Controller) based dictates the sequence of the chambers that should be go in "Offline Mode." Offline baghouse systems are generally suitable for large volumes or applications which have light dust. These baghouse systems are robust and sturdy. One of the main advantages of the offline baghouse system is that the maintenance of the system can be done by "switching off" one module till the time the maintenance activity is complete.
