Fortin's Barometer Phy:004  A superior standard mercury barometer suitable for altitudes upto 600 meters. The barometer has a nominal bore of 7mm. graduated scales covering 675 to 810mm.Hg and 26 to 32 inch Hg. The scale of are screw fastened to metal frame at the top of the tube. A vernier reading 0.05mm Hg. and 0.002 inch Hg. provided with an adjustable knob is mounted between the two scales. The reservour has a standard type of adjustment screw and index, and the barometer fitted with - 10 to 50 deg. C thermometer mounted on a polished base.

A glass tube of 6mm bore is enclosed in an enameled and lacquered brass case, mounted on a polished wooden board with plates for fixing on wall. Open plate reflectors, ring and screws for vertical adjustments. A dual scale graduated in 25 to 32 inches and 640 to 810mm is read by verniers moving by rack and pinion, reading to 0.002 inch and 0.1mm are enclosed in a glass cylinder. A glass cistern at the lower end of barometer is provided with an ivory point to adjust the level of mercury. A thermometer -10 to 50° C is provided on the wooden board. Supplied without mercury and glass case.

We offer Fortin’s Barometer. For meteorological purposes and whenever the highest accuracy and reliability are required, the atmospheric pressure is measured by the Mercury Barometer. This type of barometer consists of a glass tube filled with mercury under a vacuum and immersed in a mercury cistern; the length of the mercury column is measured against an external metallic tube, graduated in units of pressure. The instrument is fully mechanical and operates independently from any power supply. The Fortin type is particularly designed for land stations.
