The oil pressure and flow is converted in rotational energy as the oil escapes through the jets, producing speed up to 7000 RPM & above. The resultant Centrifugal force removes dirt from the engine oil depositing it on the inner wall of rotor in a dense cake form. Clean oil drains back directly to the tank.

During quenching, the oil becomes contaminated with scales, soot & degradation products, which interfere with the performance of the oil and may result in unsatisfactory, surface appearance or lower physical properties, such as hardness, than specified. Removal of these contaminants by filtration or centrifuging is necessary to restore the oil to a satisfactory condition for trouble free quenching and good product quality. We supply Oilmax Centrifugal Oil Cleaning System all over the country. Sludge : One of the greatest problems with quench oils is sludge formation. The presence of sludge may cause non-uniform heat transfer, increased thermal gradients and increased cracking and distortion. Sludge may also plug filters and foul heat-exchanger surfaces. The loss of heat-exchanger efficiency can cause overheating excessive foaming and fires. Advantages of Centrifuge : Soot particles up to sub - micron level are removed from quenching oil. This results in better confirmation of cooling rate with TTD diagrams. Oxidation of oil is substantially reduced; hence frequent top-ups are not required. The oil from a pressure point on an engine is fed through the side inlet of the Centrifuge. When the oil pressure exceeds 1.3 to 2.5 BAR, the spring loaded plunger will be pushed back and the oil enters the rotor assembly through the central spindle. The rotor assembly gets pressurized and the only exit point for the oil are the two tangentially opposed nozzles at the base. The rotor assembly has two bushes, one at the top and one at the bottom and spins freely around the spindle. The action of oil exiting through the nozzles gives it a reverse direction spin. The centrifuge has no consumable parts and is capable of removing sub micron particles from the oil. Ensure that the minimum operating pressure is at least 4 BAR and should not exceed 7 BAR. Optimum results are achieved at 5 BAR pressure.

Centrifugal Oil Cleaner model 600s are widely in use on ALCO 251 series Locomotives for Mainline Diesel Engines in India. The fitment is done at the Diesel Loco Works at Varanasi where over 3000 engines have been in operation since the last 14 years. The inlet to the centrifuge is sourced from the lube pump outlet and the drain given through the crankcase door.
