To avoid this, a process of chamfering of holes on the existing rails by using high tensile bolt and nut, and a torque wrench with built-in ratchet has been evolved. the torque wrench exerts compressive load of 12.5 tons on the rail holes and the area around the holes will be work hardened and will be capable of withstanding a greater fatigue then the ordinary rails.
