Three phase DC Brake motors offered by Amber consist of DC Electromagnetic Fail Safe OR Normally off Brake Unit mounted on the non-drive end of the motor and coupled directly to the shaft of the motor. The brake unit being DC wound is powered through a rectifier or bridge. The brake in DC Fail Safe brake motors will apply whenever the power to the brake via rectifier or bridge is cut off and vice versa in the Normally off brake units. These motors are availed with or without cooling fan based on the application and requirement. Application of DC Three phase brake motors are in machine tools and other applications where the frequency of switching the brake On-Off is very high. The major care to take while operating DC Fail Safe Brake motors is to check that power to motor and brake are cut off simultaneously otherwise the motor or brake may get damaged.

Resistance Boxes are used to add resistance into an electric motor circuit for modifying the performance characteristic of slipring induction motors of EOT cranes, rubber mills, steel rolling mills, cement mills, power plants, conveyors, coke oven, blowers etc. or speed control and developing starting torque with low starting currents. Unless specific type of brake unit is required by the customers, the motors are supplied with AC or DC Fail Safe type of brake units. Brake Motors can be normally for brake voltages of 24 V, 190 V for DC Brake Motors. Unless otherwise required 190 V DC brake units are supplied. A suitable rectifier unit can also be supplied with the motor. Alternatively customer may make this arrangement in the supply panel.

These are motors where generally Braking is done through Electromagnetic DC Brakes as normal Brake Motors or by Injection of DC Voltage in the Rotor. Since the Braking is done electrically, the Braking Losses are also added to the Starting Losses, thus making this Duty most stringent and heavy.
