ACVS Duct Silencers are used to attenuate mechanical equipment noise propagated through the ACVS duct work system. Acoustics India offers duct silencers which are normally rectangular in construction, designed to reduce the noise to the recommended level with minimum pressure drop. These silencers are offered in standard dimensions, which can be readily mounted on the existing duct. Higher performance can be achieved by combination of more than one silencer in series depending on the noise level requirement inside the building. The predicted performance and the pressure drop across wide range of flow rates are available on request.

The typical GE frame-6 silencer attenuates the gas turbine exhaust by-pass stack noise level to within 85dbA at 1 metre from the system perimeter   DUCTINGS, are available in a full range from simple carbon steel to high temperature alloy and stainless steel constructions. With a carbon steel outer frame the internally insulated ducts are typically clad with St/Steel 409 (or other st/steel materials) liner plates over a ceramic or mineral wool lining held together with a specially machined pin & washer arrangement. Externally insulated ducts require special attention to prevent thermal stress cracking.

In order to have the basic data input for design-noise level measurements are carried out under normal load conditions, full load conditions and also with damper closed conditions. The measurements are carried out at number of locations at fan inlet and at distances of 1 or 2 or 3 metres. The noise contour at number of octave frequency bands are plotted and the Silencer is designed on the following considerations. - The source noise level at fan inlet under full load conditions shall be brought down nearer to NC80 Curve by suitable combination of acoustic systems. - The pressure loss across the silencer shall be around 25 mm wcl.
