This machine is a remote controlled portable In-Situ Flange facing and Boring machine used for facing the large FlangesShells at the ship breaking yards and oil industries. It can be mounted to the flanges horizontally or vertically. A specially designed octagonal capsule has the clamping facility with interchangeability for internal diameter as well as different setting arrangements for external clamping on the same settings. The complete machine is held with eight rigid clamping to do the machining in both the settings. This machine can handle job sizes of Range 550 mm to 3000 mm. The entire operation is done with remote control. The machine can be customized for any sizes of Od and Id machining as per the requirement of the customers.

Flange facing Machines can be quickly and easily assemble at site. These portable, powerful units are ideal for use in the shop or in the field for flange reconditioning of both raised and flat surface flanges.

The rotary drive unit consists of a pair of pre-loaded, extra heavy duty taper roller bearings, located in an accurately dimensioned, forged alloy steel body. The rotary drive is through a gear box and a motor. A vector VFD provides step less rotational speeds. The main body and the cross axis ram are made of high grade CI casting, heavily ribbed and stress-relieved. The box type ram is quite unique in design, perfectly balanced, light in weight, robust in construction to withstand the deflection. The cross feed drive is through a worm reduction gear box & VFD controlled motor. Proper balancing and additional care in design ensure smooth cutting even when the cutting takes place in the extreme end of the ram. The rotational drive and feed axis are synchronized through a PLC. Adjustable feed end limit switches are provided for the ram movement.

Pelican’s I.D. Clamped Flange Facing Machine is a portable large diameter flange facer with a capacity to currently machine 1.5 metres to 12 metres flange diameter. The capacity can be altered to machine flanges from 1 metre to 28 metres in diameter. As this machine was predominantly designed and made to machine slew bearing support flanges of large diameters, like the ones in Bucket Wheel Excavators and other large slewing structures, its primary objective is to produce a flat circular surface. It has been able to achieve flatness accuracies as much as 0.06 mm (60 microns) on the entire flange diameter of 5 meters. Being equipped with a state of the art automation system and a host of high accuracy sensors enables it to deliver unmatched machining capabilities. The real time display of data of the machine performance and onboard computers help maintain the desired level of accuracy. The same sensors and computers prevent any untoward incidents by sounding alarms and also an auto stop function. Despite the fact this machine is used to machine large and very large diameter flanges, in order to be portable and easy to use, it is designed to be transported in parts and then assembled on site. This lets us machine any job at any location. The machine can be set true to the level of earth or to the level of the job to be machined. With appreciably higher material removal rates and being very easy to setup, the average total time taken from setup to finish machining is generally 30 hours or lesser.
