Details : Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) also sometimes called oligofructose or oligofructan, are indigestible carbohydrates made up of short chain of fructose. FOS is widely used as a natural soluble dietary fibers and alternative sweetener. It occurs naturally in plants such as onion, chicory, garlic, asparagus, banana, artichoke, among many others. Its commercial use emerged in the 1980s in response to consumer demand for healthier and calorie-reduced food.FOS is becoming increasingly popular as a prebiotic and is now added to many types of processed foods in the US.
