We are proud to be one of the famed Manufacturers and Suppliers of Heat Strengthened Glass in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This glass is preferred over annealed glass of similar thickness and configuration due to its high strength and more resistance to external stresses. Our Toughened Safety Glass is widely used because of additional strength. At our well-developed fabrication unit, Heat Treated Glass is designed in varied specifications using high-performance machinery. Owing to their sturdiness and resistance to mechanical and thermal stress, they are high on demand in the market. Production Process : Heat Strengthened Glass is produced in the same manner as toughened safety glass except that the cooling process is slower. During heat strengthening, annealed glass is reheated to a high temperature, and then cooled quickly in a process called “quenching” the resulting heat-strengthened glass is twice as strong as annealed glass of equal thickness and offers significantly greater resistance to wind loads, impacts, and thermal loads. The first step in the heat- strengthening process is cleaning annealed glass and cutting to size. Then it is placed in a furnace and heated to approximately 715oC. The glass is then air- cooled to create a balanced condition of stress within the glass itself, making it more resistant to external stresses. Heat strengthening does not result in a “safety glass product; heat-strengthened glass breaks in a pattern similar to annealed glass. Highlights : Heat Strengthened Glass is generally twice as strong as annealed glass but still has more resistance to heat fracture and is subject to greater wind load than annealed glass. Heat strengthened float glass on its own is not a safety glass but can be laminated to meet requirements. When Heat Strengthened Glass breaks, it fragments into larger pieces and tends to stay intact in an opening until replaced. This is particularly useful in high rice spandrel and above ground floor panels because the fragments do not fall into the ground below. Like toughened glass, it cannot be cut, drilled or edge worked. Less visual distortion is also evident when compared to toughened glass. Heat-strengthened products form ORO Tuff are perfect for many commercial applications include spandrels, windows in high wind load areas, and applications where the glass is expected to develop high thermal stresses.

Heat strengthened glass is similar to tempered glass except that the cooling is done at a much slower pace. Annealed glass is heated to approximately 650-700 º C, but the cooling process is slower than that for tempered glass. Heat strengthened glass is about twice as strong as annealed glass of the same size and thickness. Heat strengthened glass is a semi tempered glass which retains the normal properties of ordinary float glass. Heat Strengthened glass has been strengthened thermally by inducing a surface compression of 6000 to 9000 psi as compared to a range of 11000 to 20000 psi in case of fully tempered glass. Heat strengthening adds strength to the glass while limiting the change in its breakage characteristics. The cooling process places the surfaces of the glass in a state of high compression and the central core in a state of compensating tension.

FUSO Heat Strengthened Glass is a type of a Tempered Glass / Toughened Glass which is valued as it retains the normal properties of annealed glass including chemical resistance, hardness expansion and deflection but with the exceptional strength & breakage characteristics. FUSO Heat Strengthened Glass is made by evenly heating float glass to approximately 650 degree C. the ceramic roller transmits glass at a lower speed to ensure an even temperature and optical performance. Benefits Double Strengthened - FUSO Heat Strengthened Glass wind pressure resistance is at least twice that of annealed glass of the same thickness. Thermal Cracking Resistance - FUSO Heat Strengthened Glass will resist temperatures of up to approximately 250 C. In a range frm -20 C to 300 C. Fallout Prevention - As heat strengthened glass breaks in a manner similar to that of float glass, the fragments tends to remain in the sashes, having less probability of fallout as compared to Tempered Glass / Toughened Glass. In compared with Tempered Glass / Toughened Glass, heat strengthened glass is not easily broken spontaneously. Optical Clarity - Heat Strengthened glass has less distortions than ordinary Tempered Glass / Toughened Glass.

Heat strengthened glass is similar to tempered glass except that after heating the glass in a furnace as in the case of tempered glass, the cooling is done at a much slower pace. The heating temperature remains nearly the same for both processes. The residual stress on the edge and the glass surface differ in both cases with tempered glass having a higher level of stress. Due to the relatively lower rate of cooling during the strengthening process, heat strengthened glass develops less stress as compared to fully tempered glass.

Heat strengthened glass is made on state of the art electrically heated horizontal furnace, which heats the glass to an uniform temperature of approximately 660ºC. Ceramic rolls convey the glass through these furnaces at speeds regulated to ensure temperature uniformity and minimal optical distortions. The heat strengthened process parallels the traditional process of glass tempering, except that the heating temperatures are lower and the cooling cycle is less rapid. During production, non-destructive verification of the range of stresses is done by using grazing angle surface polar meter to ensure the right surface compression.

On breaking the Heat Strengthened Glass breaks in to sharp long pieces. It is twice stronger than the annealed glass. However it can not be used where human safety is concerned until combined with the lamination process of the glass.

At Birkan Engineering Industries, we lay extra emphasis on the development of Heat Strengthened Glass that is nearly double the strength of annealed glass. Heat Strengthened Glasses are in high demand by commercial users who want extra strength and higher thermal resistance from annealed glass. It is basically a semi-tempered glass which retains all the properties of ordinary float glass and these include: chemical resistance, hardness, expansion, and deflection with the exception of strength and breakage characteristics. Our expertise lies in offering a wide variety of heat strengthened glasses in a variety of different specifications to suit the diverse requirements of our clients. It is the preferred heat treated glass product for applications where additional strength is required to meet high mechanical loads (wind or snow) or thermal loads caused by certain tinted or coated glasses. They are also used as laminated glass for additional strength, such as in overhead and sloped glazing.
