Hinged Bellows, either Axial or Universal type, are designed to absorb angular rotation in one plane only by the use of a pair of pins through hinge plates attached to the expansion bellows.Hinged Expansion Bellows should be used in sets of 2 or 3 to function properly. Hinged Bellows are normally prevented by their design from deflecting axially, either in extension or compression. The hinge mechanism is usually designed to accept full pressure thrust and also shear loads such as from the weight of the adjacent piping, can be accepted by these type of expansion joints thereby doing away with provision of additional supports and anchors.Hinged Bellows also have added benefits of positive control over the movements, eliminates pressure thrust forces, transmits external loads, prevents torsion on bellows and are the most efficient in absorbing of thermal deflections.

The construction of the hinged bellows consists of two hinges connected by a common hinge pin. These hinges are designed to absorb the full pressure thrust of the expansion joint. In addition they can be designed to support the dead weight of the piping and equipment, wind loads and similar external loads.

A single axial bellow is restricted using hinges & pins arrangement for a change in direction of piping at an angle.

Hinged metal expansion joint is capable of greater angular movement, and with some designs, it can absorb axial movement. The angular movement is provided by use of metal hinges. So, if two such metal expansion joints are used in unison, separated by a segment of piping, the arrangement can provide greater lateral movement, similar to a Universal Metallic Expansion Joint, in a single plane application. Hinged expansion joints are usually used in sets of two or three, to absorb lateral deflection in one or more directions in a single plane piping system

We offer a wide range of Universal Hinged Bellow (Both side lateral Movement)which is provided with control rods for allocating the movement between the bellows of the expansion joint. It also absorbs a large amount of expansion in high-pressure piping systems. This kind of arrangement is mainly used for lateral deflection.

These are basically two single hinged bellows combined into one unit with a common tie bar joining the two extremities. Therefore any expansion of the centre pipe within the limits of the bar will simply compress the bellows and will not exert any movements on the adjoining pipe works.

Hinged Expansion Joints have a single bellows and have their length restrained by the addition of hinge mechanism which is strong enough to accept the pressure generated thrust but will allow angular movement in a single plane. Slotted Hinge Expansion Joints are a variant of the above "Hinged" type, in that while providing for angular movements, some axial movement can be accepted because the hinge pin passes through slots in the hinge plates. When the axial movements is occurring the expansion joint is incapable of accepting the pressure thrust. The hinge structure can be designed to accept the full pressure thrust when the pin is at the limit of its travel within the slot
