Kymik Hopper Bottom Silos are fabricated to store grains, seeds, legumes, pellets and other farm products that require special storage conditions. The product that is stored inside stays off the ground to prevent moisture and lower the possibility of breakage. The hoppers have a 45° conical bottom to allow the total emptying by gravity. The support legs and frame are galvanized (Z600 or hot-dip galvanized). The inner ventilation in the hopper bottom silos are made up of highly-resistance perforated metal cylinders. The number and position on the silo cone guarantee even air distribution in the stored grain mass.

Hopper bottom silo, also named as cone bottom silo, hopper bottom storage bins, refers to silo with a cone bottom. Generally, a funnel is needed in the silo for most material storage. For small silo storages, the steel hopper/cone can be fixed with the sidewalls. However for industrial silos with large diameter, to reduce the risk, the hopper/cone is designed to be supported by the silo bottom floor.

• Commercial Type Hopper Bottom Base Storage Silos The steel used for silo manufacturing is in ASTM: A: 653 standards. Special galvanize plating is used for superior corrosion resistance, and other standard galvanized plating of the sheets is (G-140) 450 grm2 zinc coating and (G-115) 350 grm2 zinc coating according to the customer’s request.

Galvanized hopper bottom silo’s capacity is ranging from 13 m³ to 2000 m³. The all components of the Silos are galvanized including supporting leg structure and circular ring beam. The bottom of the silo is conical hopper either 45 degree or 60 degree depends on the grain to be stored. The hopper angle is to be decided on angle of repose of the grain stored and its other characteristics. The main advantage of this type of silo is 100% discharge of the stored grain due to gravity. These silos are more suitable for day production online with Galvanized Flat Bottom Silos. This silo also equipped with accessories like level switches, aeration system, temperature monitoring device and discharge gates etc. The silo is designed considering various conditions at site like heavy rain-falling area, humidity, cold, hot & earthquake etc i.e. for all seismic zone.

Hopper Bottom Silos are generally built on fabricated steel structures with conical bottom made of steel plates and the corrugated sheets preformed are assembled with bolts and nuts on circular purlins and vertical stiffeners with water proof washers , cylindrically above the conical hopper with a slopped roof in the top. Ladders to clim b and get into the silos, handrails, manholes etc are provided. The grains will be discharged by gravity to the bucket elevator/belt conveyor for onward conveying. These silos can also be built on the top of concrete conical hopper with beams and columns built in situ. Aeration, ventilation, temperature monitoring system as required are all provided to the built hopper bottom silos. Normally these silos are recommended for storage upto 500 tones of grains like paddy having density of less than 550kg/m3. Hopper Bottom Silos are multipurpose and are suitable for grain processing plants, animal feed plants, grain milling plants, and poultry houses. Hopper Bottom Silos are manufactured in capacities from 20 Tons to 1000 Tons. Dynamic Analysis of silo structural stability is carried out considering seismic zone and wind loads of respective areas where the silos will be installed. Zincalume steels sheets are used in the manufacturing of the silos, which are able to withstand strength 350Mpa. Standard angle for bottom hopper of a silo is 45 degrees. However, the bottom hoppers of angle 50, 55, 60 degrees may also be manufactured on request

The Cone base silos are often routinely used in applications requiring a lower capacity for reducing labour costs by enabling rapid evacuation. Silo uses Geometer JS1000 or coating with 500 bolts. Special insulation material used to seal the port. High galvanizing (SD350GD and 450g m 2 coating) provides long-term guarantee by preventing corrosion of bolts and holes.
