Loss in-Weigh Feeders operate on the principle of controlled loss-in-weight. The proposed system comprises of a Weigh Hopper, Loadcells, Screw Conveyor with motor and associated control electronics. The Weigh Hopper and Screw Conveyor are mounted on 3 Nos. of Loadcells. The Loadcells are connected to a controller through a junction box.The material from the storage hopper is fed to the weigh hopper, which is controlled by a gate. A small screw feeder is mounted below this weigh hopper. The weigh hopper and screw feeder are mounted on high precision Loadcells and the output of the Loadcells are summed in a junction box and fed as an analog input to the controller. The controller calculates the rate, compares with the set rate and feeds the corresponding 4-20mA signal to the VVVF drive so as to control the speed of the motor of the screw, thereby controlling the rate of discharge

Loss-In-Weight Feeder is a gravimetric metering device that receives material from an upstream supply and accurately doses the material into a process at a predetermined federate, typically through a screw (helix), or vibratory tray. The feeding device with a hopper containing the product to be fed is placed on a platform scale or suspended on load cells. The product is discharged from the hopper by the metering device and the resultant weight loss per unit of time is determined by the weighing and control system. This actual weight loss per unit time is compared to a desired weight loss per unit time. Any difference between the actual and desired weight loss per unit of time results in a correction to the speed of the feeding device. When the hopper content reaches a predetermined minimum weight level, the control by weight loss is briefly interrupted and the hopper is refilled. During the refill period, the controller regulates the speed of the feeding device based upon the historical weight and speed that was determined during the previous weight loss cycle.

Loss-in-Weigh Feeders are based on continuous weight loss measurement with respect to time principle. Weigh hopper with a screw feeder is installed on three load cells of suitable capacity, which in turn connected to Load transmitter to convert it into 4-20mA output for Weigh feeder controller. In a second 30-40 weighments are done for bulk material in the weigh hopper and loss of weight with respect time (i.e. feed rate) is calculated. It generates output for controlling the speed of the screw feeder to get desired TPH. The hopper is slowly emptied (normally 3 to 30 minutes between refills) at constant feed rate. While refilling, the last TPH is recorded, speed is kept constant and refilling is done in short interval. Material during refilling is assumed to be fed at constant feed rate (i.e. volumetric feeding) and totalizer is updated to get the best accuracy at continuous feeding.

The loss-in-weight system is normally supplied with a standard hi-tech metering screw feeder either single or twin screw from 15 mm to 250 mm diameter and output range from 1.0kg/hr to, in excess of 30,000 kg/hr. The selection of the correct type of feeder from our extensive range is determined primarily by the type and specification of the material to be handled. Accuracy: Optimum Loss In Weight measurement results are obtained where the product being handled has good linear volumetric feed:-from 0 to 100% of the required flow rate. In this situation, We expect ± 0.5% or better accuracy FlowRate: Providing the controller can measure the change in weight,very low flow rates can beachieved. The limit on through put of a loss in weight system is the ability to refill the loss in weight hopper in the required time frame.
