Mixed bed demineralizer plant embodies a single column unit in which strong cation & strong anion resins are intimately mixed together. Water passing through the column comes repeatedly in contact with these resins and is thus in effect subjected almost infinite number of demineralizing stages. Mixed bed polishers are typically installed when a water quality of less than 1 micro ohm conductivity is required.This process differs essentially from the separate bed system in that the two strong resins, the Cation and the Anion, are joined in a single vessel. The two resins are intimately mixed by agitation with compresses air. The grains of resin are thus arranged side by side, and the whole bed behaves like an infinite number of Anion and Cation exchangers in series.
